THE NEXT VERSION of the popular Ubuntu operating will be called Intrepid Ibex, and shall be released on schedule in October '08. This version will focus on laptop friendly features, such as a tool to automatically switch between Wi-Fi and dial-in services. Ubuntu head honcho Mark Shuttleworth also stated that the Ubuntu team will focus on improving the user interaction model, so that Interpid Ibex works as well on a subnotebook as it does on a high-end workstation.
