High Density Drive

Toshiba now has a 2.5-inch,
double-platter hard disk
drive (HDD) that claims to
feature the highest data
density yet. The disk uses
perpendicular magnetic
recording technology to
hold 277.1 megabits per
square millimeter, or 178.8
gigabits per square inch.
The drive is designed to
hold 200GB.
Mass production of the
drives, which will be under
a centimeter in thickness
(9.5mm), will commence
in August.
