A search engine that protects your privacy

As we all know, most search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. collect our search query data for statistical analyisis. This infringes our privacy. There are even more issues with the search method these search engines follow.
A search engine named Duck Duck Go exists which solves this problem. This search engine was solo-founded by Gabreil Weinberg in February 2008.
Standard search engines use the HTTP GET method for search queries, i.e. whatever query you put, goes into the url itself. For example google, when you search for something, the new page where search results are displayed is google.com/search?q=foo and so on.
Further, Google does have an SSL version of their search but it also uses HTTP GET method for queries. Duck Duck Go also has an SSL version of their search.
Now when you click a link on the search result page of Google, the website to which the result refers, has the information that you visited from Google and from so and so query. For the techies, the information goes in the HTTP Referer header.
Duck Duck Go, re routes the request in such a way that the search terms won't be visible to the site you're visiting from the search result. The site you are visiting will know that you visited them from Duck Duck Go, but not what you searched. Hence you get more privacy.
Duck Duck Go, has a HTTP POST based version of the search engine, which means your search query will be available only to Duck Duck Go again, not the result site.
Most major search engines as mentioned in the first line of the article, save your search history along with certain extra details like date, time, ip address, browser and if you're logged in, your name and email address as well. This associates the query directly with you, again a privacy threat.
Also there is no rule that obliges search engines to collect personal information. They do it for their sake of statistics.
The personal information and search history can be given to law of enforcement. Duck Duck Go doesn't collect that itself!
There are many other ways of associating information in search like cookies, etc. with you.
So let's enjoy a safer search by using Duck Duck Go.
