Rumors: Apple to Release iPad Mini with Price Tag of $200

As per rumors, Apple is planning to ship mini iPad; a smaller version of iPad, and yes with less price of $200 and yet with less storage of 8 GB but still will have the same Retina Display found on third Generation of Apple Devices.
As cited by iMore today, it would have following specs:

  • Price: $200 to $250 – $150-200 less than the 16GB second-generation model, currently being sold by Apple.
  • It may overlap pricing of Apple’s iPod Touch line, which is priced at $199-$399 for the 64GB model.
  • Rumors are there that the new device will have only 8GB of memory – half the memory of the entry-level iPad.
  • It would sport same resolution as Apple’s latest iPad at 2,048×1,536 pixels – keep in mind the option that Apple may want to keep in step with ‘Retina Displays’ on its iOS devices (in Retina Displays, pixels are so closely packed together that it is not possible to pick them out while viewing the screen).
  • Experts are of the view that a 2,048×1,536 pixel screen at 7 inches may display mini iPad a resolution of 326 pixels per inch display – a little higher than 264 pixels per inch on Apple’s current latest iPad and still on par with the 326 ppi Apple is currently offering on iPod Touchs and iPhones of Apple.
Good resolution may boast up the excellent resolution for the media-rich games and HD content but the size of the storage may pose iTunes based media-rich games and some movies but experts are of the view that Apple may bring some adjustments to its iCloud infrastructure so that downloading problem may be overcome by adding streaming.
