1. Focus on you!
Telling your own story is a always a good place to start. Tell your readers who you are, why you’re writing, and what you want to share. They want to know you and know why they should read what you’re writing. Plus, if you’re stuck with a bit of writer’s block, what subject do you know better than yourself?!
2. Go multimedia.
Instead of a written post, try sharing photos – maybe a photo of the day or photo of the week. And use audio and video as well. Make a short video or podcast as a change of pace from your standard blog post. Your readers will get to know you a little better, and you’ll get to try something different and exciting.
3. Seek inspiration away from the computer.
Think about why you started the blog in the first place, and go out and experience those things again, find experiences for you to write about and share. Or, seek inspiration in your peers. Find a blogger conference or meet-up and get out there and network. Talk to others who write about similar topics. You’ll come away with new ideas and new friends, and a new source of advice and feedback.
4. Bring in new voices.
Whether it’s a one-shot guest post, or a new, regular contributor, bringing a new voice onto your site will generate excitement among your readers, as well as inspiration in yourself. Reach out to bloggers that cover a similar topic, and propose a post exchange. You’ll each gain new readers and new ideas!
5. Enter the world of social media.
If you haven’t already, create a profile for your blog identity on sites like Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Through these sites, you can engage with your fans, gain new followers, and seek out inspiration.
With these five ideas, you can be breathing new life and excitement into your blog right away, and hopefully start seeing the results in no time at all.
