LONDON: Hacking collective Anonymous has threatened social gaming giant Zynga over what the group calls its 'outrageous treatment of employees'.
Anonymous, whose supporters have adopted a Guy Fawkes mask as their public face, made the threats to mark Guy Fawkes Day as a global day of protest.
In a video on YouTube, which has now been removed, Anonymous said it would mount an attack because of a round of layoffs at Zynga, the social gaming firm responsible for around 14 per cent of Facebook revenues.
"During the last few days anonymous has been targeting Zynga for the outrageous treatment of their employees and their actions against many developers," the video posted last week said.
"As we speak we are planning to release also all the games we've taken from their servers for free," it said.
According to the Telegraph, it is unclear what the threat means as Zynga's games are free to play online.
Stealing the source code would seemingly have little impact on its business, which is based on selling virtual gods within the games, the paper said.
Separately, Anonymous has claimed to have hacked the accounts of 28,000 PayPal users in a bid to mark November 5 as a day of global protest.
