Twitter, late Wednesday night, allegedly suspended for an hour the account @YourAnonNews of the international "hacktivist" collective Anonymous. The account has more than 800,000 followers. It was reinstated after a "support ticket" or a follow-up appeal was filed. An account called @YANBackUp, a backup of the suspended account confirmed the action.
They later posted a screenshot of the email they received from Twitter citing reasons for their suspension. "Your account has been suspended for posting an individual's private information such as private email address, physical address, telephone number, or financial documents," read the email.
This was followed by a link to the offending tweet which also carried a screenshot of a personal email. The @YourAnonNews account had been tweeting about the Westboro Baptist Church and their presence at the protests against the Newtown shootings when the account was suspended.
At the time of writing, both @YANBackUp and @YourAnonNews were active.
Would love to here from you...
