Galaxy S5 Pricing And Specs Allegedly Confirmed, Will Be Accompanied By Mini And Zoom Variants After Launch

Does it need saying that there are never enough rumors in the world of technology? Probably not, because we all know that pretty well enough already. The truth is, whenever there’s something big coming up, the rumor mill only seems to pick up pace further, and now we get to hear about the alleged specs for Samsung’s new and upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship Android phone that is expected to be unveiled around March this year.
According to a report from SamMobile, sources “close to the matter” have revealed to them that akin to Apple’s offering with iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, the new Galaxy S5 will also come in two variants – one with the traditional plastic body while the other fitted in brushed aluminum, the latter of which will see a higher price tag (over $1,000 US) as compared to its cheap-looking sibling. The devices will feature either an Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805 processor, based on whether you have the LTE variant or not. It’s also rumored that the processor will be a 64-bit one (no, we’re not copying Apple at all!).

In probably the biggest news of all, the device is believed to be carrying a QHD display featuring resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels instead of the 1080p screen that we saw on Galaxy S4. The display will be a Super AMOLED variety, and might come in 5.3-inch screen size(according to some previous rumors as well). To complement the massive resolution,SamMobile’s source also believes that the rear camera will get beefed up to 16-megapixels, and will be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat (but that’s already a no-brainer). The device is also expected to hit the shelves by early April this year.

On a somewhat unrelated note, two more devices have also seen their share of the light through the same tipster. Galaxy S4 Mini and S4 Zoom will see further upgrades in the form of Galaxy S5 Mini and S5 Zoom. Both these successors will be running KitKat out of the box, but no further details have been shared at this point. It is, however, rumored that the Galaxy S5 Zoom will feature a larger and higher resolution screen this time to make the experience all the more appealing.

In all fairness, the rumors will continue to pour in and people will continue to get excited. That said, the problem with Android isn’t hardware or even fragmentation – it’s the userexperience, and whether Galaxy S5 will be able to live up to the mark or not, we’ll find out soon enough.
