WhatsApp has been leading the way of a new era of communication since quite some time now. Almost every smartphone user also has the free messaging app, WhatsApp, downloaded on their phone. Lets just cut to the chase and get to the issue that needs to be addressed. Considering the pace at which most people text, accidental deletions have become quite common. You may have wanted to delete one chat thread but ended up deleting a totally different one accidentally due to a lack of concentration. Maybe you never intended to delete anything but ended up doing just that somehow anyway. Here are a few ways in which you can recover the messages/chats that you have accidentally deleted on WhatsApp.
There are two main ways of restoring the deleted messaged. We’ll start with the most basic one.

Daily Backup Restore
This method is for the deleted chats that were recent i.e. 7 days old or less. WhatsApp creates a backup of your chat history everyday which is stored on the SD card of your phone. Therefore, restoring the recent chats is relatively easier. All you need to do is uninstall WhatsApp from your phone and then download it again. You will be asked to restore your data. When you do, the chats as recent as 7 days will be restored to your phone.
Manual Restore For Older Chats
As the title suggests, this method is targeted towards the older chats that may have been deleted. You will need to do it by yourself therefore it isn’t going to be as straightforward as the previous method.
Go to the WhatsApp folder in your device, and then go to the ‘Databases’ folder.
You’ll see a bunch of files there with a similar naming convention. Search for the file “msgstore.db.crypt” and rename it to something similar, but different. Next, look for the file represented by the date that was right before you ended up accidentally deleting your messages, rename that file to “msgstore.db.crypt”. Doing this will restore this particular file to your WhatsApp and you’ll regain your lost chats.
There are a few other ways of gaining access to your lost messages using third party services. But those methods might not restore the messages back to your phone the way you’d want them to. Therefore use either of the two methods stated here. This is it, I hope these methods will be of help to those concerned.
