Lets tune to 3 years back, SEO was all about On Site, Off-site Optimizations and Backlinks, and Social Media is at its nascence in determining your rankings and Authority. Now get back to the Present time, Social media is deeply ingrained in your SEO efforts and is actuallybeing called as SMO (Social Media Optimization). Those who refused to believe it till now are now trying to catch up rapidly to this rising trend, with the help of some Paid subscribers, and let me tell you that’s no good for anyone. Maybe it will do good to your celebrity status, but not for for your Engagement and SEO, eh ?

Let me start with the benefits of having a strong Social Media profile for your Brand, and the wonders it can do for you :-
- You get more referral traffic, that means they are the users that are already interested in your content and would be more likely to stay on your site for a longer time, you have more Page/Visit rate, and obviously more conversion and Profits.
- You have more Social media mentions, Tweets, shares, likes, Google +1s etc., and let me tell you, they are some of the most significant factors for your rankings in SERP.
- You automatically reach out to more users the more you share and Engage with them on Social Media, let me tell you, they bring you more Legit subscribers via Viral reach than you can get via “Shove in your face” Content lockers etc.
Optimization and SMO Techniques for Different Social Networks.
Google+
Google+ was dubbed as the fail child of Google, that wanted to give something to users who were tired from Facebook. I won’t tell you how successful it is, but it is a community frequented and filed up with “Influencers” right now, and you have be surprised to know that some of the Profiles of those Influencers have more index rate than many big sites, and it is another known fact that Google+ pages have their own Pagerank (PR), so you better start with Google+ now, or be late forever.
Getting one of your posts into those indexed pages will not even ensure you getting more Search bots in your content but ensuring that you used #Hashtags will also get you some really interested traffic. And you can get some Dofollow links to desired pages on your website from your Google+ about pages. So what are you waiting for ? Run G+ Run!
Twitter is for those who have followers, and how do you get followers ? By using you follow button everywhere ? No, just tell you readers to Tweet your posts at the end of post and the chance is, those who Tweet will be most probably the new Followers.
For rich content posts on Twitter, you can try Twitter cards based on Schema.org markups.
To setup Twitter cards is easy :-
add this to you site –
<!-- Twitter Card data -->
<meta name="twitter:card" value="summary">
Then get your Domain verified via this tool here , well this was the Basic Template, to get the other Layouts, you can try to add the full code from that link instead of the one I gave you. This can do wonders in case of visibility for you posts on twitter, where every link appears as just some link (Thanks to that t.co).
Facebook is the most popular among all the social networks and chances are ripe that you may be already using it to engage with your subscribers for you Business page, but are you doing it right ?
Some of the recent changes in Facebook are :- Hashtags Introduced (although in a crude manner), Trending Topics, and Advanced Page Management dashboard(Alright, that’s not new, but rather new)
Hashtags : If you are not using Hashtags on you posts, you maybe doing the Facebook posts wrong, when someone clicks on a link to a hashtag, they are taken to a page which lists all Public posts on that Topic and can bolster your visibility on Facebook, for Example a post that i made on a Hot topic on a rather small Blog, with proper hashtags, got traffic due to that hashtag being watched too much across the world.
Trending Topics : Well its new, to me at-least, the topics you get on the right side of your Facebook Home feed page, lists all the Posts on Facebook with that label and works the same way as Hashtags.
Page Management Dashboard : The new Dashboard lists all the number of readers that are online at hourly intervals and days of weeks, this will immensely help you with scheduling your page post timings to improve your Engagement.
Well this was the post for you to help with your SMO efforts on the major three Social networks, have some questions and Thoughts ? Ask away in comments.
Last Thought, Just don’t Over SEO it and don’t be a Formal announcement page for your readers, ask their opinions and comments on your posts, and reply, Trust me, it makes you stand out among the Crowd.
