Love it or hate it, Facebook is one of the best social networking till date. So The Accidental Billionaires is therefore a must read for everyone even if you have watched the movie, The Social Network. Sex, Money, Betrayal and the found of Facebook as the taglines says the book has plenty of everything. Author Ben Mezrich wrote this book without ever speaking to Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook.
Author starts from the dawn of the creation of Facebook by a Harvard student. The dorm room is where the billion dollar baby starts its journey. This geek who had let down offers worth millions from companies like Microsoft since his high school times was the one who started to change the whole era of communication and he himself didn’t have a clue that one day it can make him a billionaire. But he never have thought that in his journey of becoming the social networking king he would lose his friends. He just not only lost some friends, it also turned them into to his foes who took him to the court of law.

He became a famous as computer programmer in Harvard with Facemash. Facemash was an application which he created by hacking into databases of many famous colleges and collecting the photographs of students. The application made the students compare any two photos of the students. The application was viral the time it was launched but it was put down later. The authorities were really angry with Zuckerberg and he was on verge of detention but somehow he was only given a warning. By this people at Harvard came to know about its potential as a programmer.
Winklevoss brothers, famous twin brothers at Harvard contacted him in order to work on their ConnectU project , a social networking cum dating site. Mark agreed but never worked for them. Instead he started his own site thefacebook. This made the brothers his enemy. Later he also met the Sean Parker, the founder of Napster, who helped them get funded by VCs in the Silicon Valley which was to be done by his friend Eduardo but he was not able to get any success in that. Later he also sued him for diluting his shares in Facebook.
The book describes their journey from college which includes parties, their concern of getting laid before their become graduates, the groups at Harvard. To the Silicon valley where they rented a house and took a team from the Harvard to work on the the facebook. Silicon valley is where Mark Zuckerberg got his recognition with the help of Sean Parker who also got him friends with one of the hottest victoria secret’s models.
Its roller coaster ride and the book is goes so fast that its hard to put it down for second. Even if you have watched the movie you should read this. It is one of the best books ever written.
