Samsung Galaxy Note II THB review

Anyone who misses large stylus-based devices like the PalmPilot and Windows PDA-phones will love the new Note. After a super-successful (and unexpected) run for the original Note, a year later, the Note II adds several refinements. It now has an updated, beefy quad core processor, 2GB RAM, better camera and a great screen.
The Note II has multitasking abilities similar to its bigger brother, the Note 800 tablet. This isn't like regular smartphone multitasking, where you can switch between apps running in the background. It allows you to run two apps side-by-side - you can swap them around, copy data between them, or resize both apps. While this mostly benefits power users, it's also a really cool feature to have.

The S-pen (stylus) is pressure sensitive like before, but a new feature called Air View catapults this device into a new league. Just hover the stylus over something and it gives you more information. For instance, hold it over a text message and a pop-up will show you the whole text. Hovering over a sender's name in email will show you the mail body and hovering on the timeline in a video will show you a frame from that point - it's a brilliant concept & brilliantly executed.

The only real downside to the Note II is the size. While slightly narrower than the original Note (and consequently easier to hold), the huge size of the device does restrict the market to those with very large hands. However, seeing how popular the original Note was and that this device only improves on it in every single way, the Note II will undoubtedly be a success. It is, right now, the most powerful and most feature-rich smartphone on the planet. Buy the original Note only if you have a limited budget.
