If you are anything like us then you have probably wished that you could put an app, or even an iOS feature behind some sort of additional security. Whether you want to stop your kids from getting into the App Store or have some important information in the Notes app that you want to hide from prying eyes, being able to password or passcode protect apps is a long-requested iOS feature. Apple hasn’t added it, but Asphaleia does.
Now up to version 2, Asphaleia now works with iOS 8.4 and like some of the other tweaks lets you use your fingerprint to lock or unlock apps and various parts of iOS.
Developed by the well known A3Tweaks, the tweak once installed sets about making your apps secure. With options for enabling Touch ID or a simple passcode by means of security, users can make it so that either needs to be satisfied before an app will open or a particular feature will work, such as Control Center, Spotlight, Multitasking, Slide to Power off option etc. Asphaleia 2 has a lengthy settings menu for configuring such things, with lots of options to customize and choose from.
It also features a very neat animation for fingerprint scanning, as can be seen in the screenshots below.
Now of course Asphaleia isn’t the first of its kind tweak, There are many tweaks like BioProtect,BioLockdown, AppScan and others available that offer similar functionality. But Asphaleia is more polished, has more options and best of all is now compatible with the latest iOS 8.4 jailbreak. If your previous favorite Touch ID-based tweak is having compatibility issues on iOS 8.4, or in general doesn’t offer as much options as this one, the latest Asphaleia 2 maybe worth trying.
