Samsung To Release Galaxy Note 5 In August Ahead Of Apple’s iPhone 6s Debut

Samsung, creator of the famous Galaxy S Series of devices and one of the largest smartphone vendors in the world, is reportedly so anxious about the upcoming release of Apple’s iPhone 6s that it’s rushing to try and hit the market with its own next-generation “phablet” – the Galaxy Note 5.
Apple’s new iPhones have been lately following the September release timetable. Recent reports have suggested that the Cupertino giant has requested suppliers to manufacture a record breaking number of iPhone 6s units to fulfill high depend the company is expecting for next generation iPhone models. Today’s reports suggest that Samsung is extremely keen to try and capture the plus-sized device market before that happens with a Galaxy Note 5 launch in August, a month ahead of Apple.

Recent financial earnings have shown that poor sales of Samsung’s flagship device, the Galaxy S6, have once again contributed to a seventh consecutive quarterly decline in profits. Something needs to provide the Korean giant with a boost, and it could be the Note 5. It stands to reason at this point that Samsung would want to get yet another flagship smartphone of 2015 out in the market to get a lead on Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus scheduled for release in September. Last year, Samsung took a dire hit in terms of sales when the Galaxy Note 4 went on sale after the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, resulting in overall poor sales of the device.

When it launches, the Note 5, which carries the SM-N920 model number, will reportedly feature a 5.67-inch Super AMOLED display serving up a 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution, or 2K as it is commonly known in the tech world. Rumor has it that the device will be all about power, thanks to an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7422 processor built on the 64-bit architecture, with a design that is very similar to Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Consumers will also have the choice of purchasing the phablet in a range of colors, with black, silver, gold, and white variants rumored to be in tow. Of course, this could purely be educated speculation at this point in time, but it makes perfect sense that Samsung would want to recoup some of its market share considering Apple is predicting upwards sales of 85-90 million iPhone 6s units by the end of the year.
