India's too tempting. Now that BMW has fixed up a plant in Chennai to produce the 3 and 5 Series, plus bring in a host of other CBU models, Audi too has firmed up its plans. This, in spite of what the entire Volkswagen Group said earlier that Skoda and Audi have nothing to do with each other all along. Audi will be assembling the A6 using CKD kits at an exclusive section of the Skoda plant in Aurangabad, beginning October this year. They are planning to put together over 300 vehicles in 2008, in their first full year in India. And they expect to touch 3,000 units sales by 2010. Of course, the number of dealerships will also be going up, from the existing three (Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi) to at least eight across the country. Other Audis, like the A4, A8 and Q7, will continue to be sold as CBUs.
