Google Nexus 7, which was unveiled in the Google I/O 2012 is the World’s First tablet from the house of ASUS which comes with the jellybean 4.1 update. Here we are with complete tutorial about how to root Google Nexus 7 tablet. It is to be informed that, once you have rooted your device, you will lose the warranty.

  • Pre-requisites To Root Google Nexus 7 Tablet:

1. Backup all your important data before trying this tutorial on your device.
2. Make sure to have at least 60% battery in your device during the time of installation, otherwise your device may get turned off in the middle of the installation.

  • How to root Google Nexus 7 tablet

Here is the step by step procedure which you need to follow for successful rooting of Google Nexus 7 Tablet powered by Jellybean 4.1 firmware.
1.  Download Android SDK in your device.  After downloading the Android SDK you will have to download Superuser and Clock Work mod Package in your computer.
2.  After downloading all the above mentioned files, you need to put Super User packeges and CWM in <u>platform-tools folder</u> which will be available inside<u>C:/Android folder.</u>
3.  Now open command prompt in your computer. You can open it by pressing “Win + R” followed by “cmd”. You will see a command prompt window after entering this command.
4.  Now you are done with all the required pre-settings. Now connect your device (Nexus 7) to your computer. After establishing successful connection, type these command as it is in command prompt:
“adb push path-to-zip/JB-SuperSU.zip /sdcard”
“cd platform-tools”
“adb reboot bootloader”
“fastboot oem unlock”
5.  After entering and processing these commands, you will have to unlock our device by selecting “unlock” option.
6.  It will take some time to unlock your device completely. After complete unlocking, derive your Nexus 7 to “recovery mode”. Recovery mode is necessary for proper installation of clock work recovery mode in your device. After this, type this commands in command prompt:
“ fastboot flash recovery path-to-img/CWM-grouper-recovery.img”
7.  Select Clock Work Mod recovery and boot your device once. After this move to “Mounts & Storage” and type this commands in terminal:
“mv recovery-from-boot.p recovery-from-boot.bak”
8.  Press “back” and install the superuser package on your Nexus 7. You may also install this application from Google PLAY Store.
9.  Check rooting status of your device (you may check it through “Root Checker” app available at Google PLAY Store). In case your device is not rooted completely, you will have follow all the steps again.
Congratulations, your Google Nexus has been successfully rooted.
