WhatsApp gets iOS 7 update at last

Months after major applications jumped onto the iOS 7 redesign bandwagon, WhatsApp has boarded it as well. The flatter design guide has finally been embraced by WhatsApp and the update is now available for download.

The update bumps WhatsApp to version 2.11.5 and comes with a whole new interface that adheres to the iOS 7 aesthetic guidelines. The glossy buttons have now given way to flatter ones and so have the bubbles. One more noticeable change here is that the WhatsApp green colour that is being used around the application has taken over a lot more neon shade. The icon has changed too to match the iOS 7 colour scheme.

Besides the change in the interface, there are a few more features WhatsApp has squeezed into the update. There’s a new broadcast list which will let you communicate with multiple people at once. The location sharing feature has been tweaked for better 3D map views, the ability to hide places and search places.

Thumbnails are now larger, there are more options for notification alerts and sounds. As far as usability goes, WhatsApp will now use your device text size as default within the app too. The company also promises a better user interface to manage blocked contacts. What’s more is that the app will now let you crop an image before you send it across to people. The service has also reminded that iOS users can back up WhatsApp conversations to iCloud by heading into Settings.

You can head to Apple’s App Store to download WhatsApp for your iPhone.
