How To Write a Killer Blog Post

Content is KING. There's a reason everyone says that - it's true.

But it can be such a struggle to come up with on a regular basis.

Here are three secrets that will help you knock your next blog post out of the park.

Keywords: Your post should have a well researched keyword that is relevant to your target audience and will bring in search traffic.

Go to Google AdWords and use the Keyword Planner to find a keyword (2-3 word phrase) that has less than 10,000 monthly searches and Low competition.

Use this keyword phrase in your title, the body of your post and your meta description. (Using a keyword too much can actually have the opposite effect we're going for here.)

Photos: You will need a relevant image to go with your post.

You can buy stock images or search for creative commons images, but the easiest thing to do (and the safest legally) is to take your own photo.

Taking and editing your own photos is amazingly easy these days with smart phones. It's best to take one vertical and one horizontal image to include in your post.

Be sure to include a small watermark crediting your site and write the keyword rich title on your photo so that it can be easily seen.

With the immense popularity of Pinterest, the photos are as important - if not more- than your actual text.

Call to Action: At the end of your article, you will need to tell the reader what you want them to do next.

You should always have a goal for your writing and an action in mind of what you want the reader to do next.

If you want your reader to leave a blog post comment, then say, "Please leave me a comment telling me... " and tell them exactly what you want them to comment about.

If you'd like them to click a link or follow you on social media, then tell them that. This can be a great way to train your audience to take smaller actions on your posts so that they are conditioned for when you need them to take larger actions.

Bonus Tip: Once you've finished writing your post, your job is only half way done. Now you will need to promote it

Promoting your post can feel a bit like tooting your own horn, but if you don't toot it, who will?

This process works much better if you have a tribe of like-minded bloggers to work with that can help you spread your message and give you content to promote to your readers also.
