Google Has launched its new Social Networking tool in direct competitions with Facebook and according to rumours is planning to ditch its existing Orkut.The Site Formally Launched on 28 June 2011 is in invite-only testing phase.Theres a minimum age criteria for the account and the user should be at least 18 years old.

Hangouts Are Places in Google+ where you an video chat with your friends at a time maximum of 10 people can join for a video chat. Anyone can join the video chat by possessing a unique URL for the chat.
Instant Upload is specific to Android mobile devices; it stores photos or video in a private album for sharing later.
Sparks is a front-end to Google Search, enabling user to identify topics they might be interested in sharing with others; "featured interests" sparks are also available, based on topics others globally are finding interesting.
Through Streams, users see updates from those in their circles, updates similar to Facebook's news feed. The input box allows users to enter a status update or use icons to upload and share photo and videos.
The User interface is very simple like Facebook.
There are 4 buttons on the Home screen For Home,Photos,Profile And Circles.
The Spark button is given in the left sidebar.
Clearly it seems that after the failure of Wave , Google is trying for another chance and its working out pretty well.
